An important skill for Critical Reading is to recognize the pattern of cause and effect.
This can help in making predictions of what will happen later in a text and making inferences as to what has already happened in a text.
If you are familiar with the pattern of cause and effect, you can recognize it while reading and understand the text more easily.
Understanding relationships while reading aids in predicting what will come later or inferring what has happened before.
